The excursion I had was so elongated and full of picture taking that it actually requies two posts to sum up a small portion of it. Firstly, there is this sketchy bridge we had to cross that had no sides and the only discernible footing was the rickety boards that the train rails sat upon.
Under that same bridge (I think it was the same one, it could have been different) there was a memorial for an 18 year old man named Trevor Babin...We came to the conclusion that he had either accidentally fallen off the bridge or fell of while in a drunken stupor, because the words of memory did mention drinking's involvement in his death.
You concluded wrong on both accounts, but that's okay. I know I shouldn't be offended by some kids speculating on the circumstances surrounding someone's death around train tracks; it's very "Stand By Me"-esque. Then again, when it hits close to home, you feel something...
ReplyDeleteHe was an amazing guy, and today is his would-be 25th birthday. Happy Birthday bro.
sd.
I'm terribly sorry for your loss. It was a damned shame. I went to Notre Dame; it happened at my last year at that school. I was a year younger than he was, but I've known or dated people who knew him from D'OC. It always kind of hit home with me.
ReplyDeleteI won't speculate; I am sure there is a high probability of what I have heard about his death being false.
Suffice to say it's tragic.
20 years later, still love you and miss you bro. FP+SK πΆπ±♥️
ReplyDeleteThank you, Juwan, for sharing these photos. I suspect by now, 15 years later, his memorial is lost to time, however you've immortalized both Trevor and a fraction of the love he holds in his friends' and family's hearts through these images.
There were terrible rumors surrounding his death that were horribly unfair to his closest friends - but with highschool gossip and rumors it is what it is.
Rest in peace brother.
